Alan Mercel-Sanca, BA (Hons)
Alan brings his considerable expertise on Equality and Diversity (from auditing through to policy influencing & development, including at Parliamentary Select Committee level, and a range of training solutions) – including with NHS England and the social care market. He also brings to the Calibre leadership team, extensive BAME and international communities outreach (for international students and those newly-settled in the UK), coupled with a publicly-recognised reputation for creating high-quality transcultural learning resources (books, articles and website material). These experience bases are critical components in maximising successful employability in the UK for the international training market, and for positive experience of the latter.
He has an extensive international student market knowledge as a representative of Canterbury Christ Church University and Brooke House College and through his position as CEO of the UK Nepal Friendship Society (UKNFS: www.uknfs.org) whose official patron is the H.E. the Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Ireland, and Malta.
He is also a leading lobbyist on behalf of international students within and beyond the UK Parliamentary (select committees) and democratic process, and is a director on the board of the Ireland – Nepal Chamber of Commerce (INCC).
Alan has for many years displayed passion and an in-depth aptitude for presenting effectively the voice, needs and strengths of international students and their employability within the UK workforce, with a solutions-orientated approach to the challenges and opportunities involved for this sector. His communications and E&D expertise is recognised in the UK within the diverse National Health Service (NHS) — from NHS England CEO and deputy director, to providing presentations on Diverse Communities engagement to the NHS Wessex Academic Health Science Network — and social care sectors in particular. In Dorset he provides E&D guidance and support to Dorset Healthcare NHS University Foundation Trust.
